Most of you probably already knew that I’m not as into fitness as I used to be around the beginning of this self improvement blog.
In truth I didn’t really care to get better at it. I was just tired out. I’d been on a diet that I wasn’t feeling satisfied with, I’d been drinking way too much coffee, and I’d been eating way, way too much protein. I’d been training for a half dozen marathons which is something that I’m pretty sure I didn’t actually want to continue doing. The one thing that kept me going though was a feeling I had that I could do this, I had the willpower and the ability to train.
I’d been training my body for so long that I’d built up muscle memory and it felt good to know that when the time came, I’d be able to just pick it up and get on with it. This is one of the few times I remember getting on board with doing a training plan for my body. Something that I definitely wasn’t doing before. Now I don’t know if I have any sort of magic training program or routine that works for everyone, but I’m willing to try something different and see how it goes.
It all started on this past Thursday when I took an unplanned 30 minute walk to the park. It was dark and chilly so when I got there I was in no hurry to get home. I sat down next to a family in the grass and started to chat with them. The son had recently moved from Minnesota and I found out that the mother, who used to run the Chicago Marathon, had recently finished her first half marathon.
